The paper presents
the project to create an electronic corpus of Old Russian cursive. A model for
and algorithms of Old Russian cursive handwriting recognition
are being developed. Key aspects of recognition technology are a structural
approach, duplex recognition circuit (letter/word), recognition controlled by
hypotheses, vagueness in the description, the use of knowledge and
participation of the expert. A mockup of the recognition system is being
developed. The main components of the system are a tracer, word and letter
recognizers, a knowledge base containing information about letters and words
and a training module.

The present report
summarizes the results of several projects focused on the development of
digital tools for studying, adequate presentation and popularization of one
part of Bulgaria’s cultural and historical heritage: Bulgarian language and mediaeval
literature. The system comprises an electronic diachronic corpus, a dictionary
of Old Bulgarian, a historical dictionary, a grammatical dictionary, and an
automatic morphological annotator.

This paper describes
peculiarities of the development of a specialized linguistic corpus comprising
Russian-language texts from the mass media printed in the Grodno Region of
Belarus, the goal of which is research on the sociocultural characteristics of
one of the regional varieties of Russian speech.

В
докладе представлен проект электронного издания медицинского трактата “L'enseignement
ou la manière de garder et conserver la santé” (“Трактат о сохранении здоровья”),
представляющего собой перевод на среднефранцузский язык латинского произведения
Гвидо Парато “Libellus de sanitate conservanda” (1459). Издание готовится на
основе рукописи СПб., РНБ, Fr.Q.v.VI.1. Методологические принципы и
технологические решения, используемые в издании, разработаны в рамках проекта
издания “Поиска святого Грааля”, а в перспективе издание должно войти в коллекцию
электронных текстов Базы средневекового французского (BFM,
http://txm.bfm-corpus.org).

Watermarks
are important for dating and identifying of manuscripts and documents on paper.
Nowadays, the investigation of watermarks is a common practice in codicology
and other research areas. This contribution presents the internet portal Bernstein – the Memory of Paper, a
powerful tool for the search of watermarks and, hence, the dating of undated
manuscripts. The portal is multilingual (English, French, German, Hungarian,
Italian, Russian, and Spanish) and allows the centralized, simultaneous search
in twenty distributed watermark databases containing more than 200,000
watermarks.
